Minimalism was the actual approach to web designers for the last decade. As designs indicate modernization, minimalism is starting to look dull and ordinary than its fresh and new look in the beginning. Although there have been some bumpy start outbreaks the long-term trend, due to pandemic, 2021 will be the year of finally winding of minimalism.

Until Covid-19 instructed worldwide lockdowns, there were existing signs of a more animated, more artistic, more blissful approach to design. Common typography has been replaced with more artistic examples i.e. ink-traps to fake 3D effects are unexpectedly popular. One of the most important aspects of this growing trend is moving towards multi-color and animated gradients. 

One of the other things COVID-19 hasn’t slowed down is the acceptance of new web technologies. CSS has made some drastic improvements in 2020. Life will rapidly restore to normal after the world will be vaccinated as per the latest news but still, this technology will get improvements with new trends.

 Indeed, minimalism was popular before, but perhaps the end of the lockdown period becomes the cause for the significant development.

The Reduction In Use of WordPress

As per the statistics, WordPress powers almost 37% of the web, but in the next decade, its market share will be in rapid decline. In fact, WordPress is the best on the web, it has given a platform to millions of people, greater career opportunities, and entitled growth of entrepreneurship globally. 

But, 2020 changes the way people look at websites. Due to many reasons or unavailability to go outside, people started using digital services. Hence, eCommerce, e-services, and even online gaming have become very popular in a significant time. Most businesses rapidly shifted to operations online and created opportunities for more custom build websites.

Certainly, 2021 is the year that digital currency goes widespread. In 2020 Bitcoin increased by approximately 400%, its current value is around $35k and it may grow to $100k in December 2021, and as per the prediction, it may go to as high as $1m in the next five years.  

Globally many believe that youngsters will invest in cryptocurrency as large investment banks are investing in cryptocurrency. The digital currency buzz was also raised by the Paypal announcement that it would enable buying, selling, and holding digital currencies. Paypal owns the majority of the payment infrastructure and sets a new trend that will be supported by others soon. In 2021 Paypal customers will be able to use their crypto to pay at Paypal’s merchants globally with no incremental fees.  

Besides this, more and more investor organizations are grouping in cryptocurrencies, creating demand and making it more reliable for others. Due to the bigger player entering the game, the value of the whole cryptocurrency industry continues to increase.

Cryptocurrency is the latest gold fever so it will become gaining popularity in e-commerce throughout 2021.

Call over the web

It is very awkward to assume lockdown before a decade, what would happen? Thankfully, we are in a time of widespread availability of internet and video conferencing applications, i.e. Zoom, Meet, Whatsapp, etc. Almost everyone was stuck at home during the pandemic, but we all have been able to keep up with our friends, colleagues, and family.

Hence, 2020 was the year of Zoom. The growth of Zoom became the key example for every entrepreneur that every problem is an opportunity. During the last year, we found two interesting things: Meetings are becoming more creative and office costs effectively low due to staff work remotely.

This year, remote work will continue to be common as businesses get profits by saving rents. Video calls will be normal for update meetings. Undoubtedly, the tech is not without limitations, Although poor connectivity and Zoombombing created problems for many people in the starting, it drove massive innovation through 2020. Zoom has announced new Slack-like functionality will be added to its platform and Cisco has started Webex Classrooms which lets teachers take online classes, schedule parent-teacher conferences, and many more. 

After all, most of us enjoyed the virtual meetings and online conferencing last year, which created another habit or became a part of our life so even if society returns to normal life, it will stick.
